Frequently asked questions

Buying a lamp shouldn’t feel complicated. Here’s what we get asked most — and if something isn’t covered, we’re just an email away.

About the lamps

Are the lamps really handblown in Italy?+

Yes — every single one. Our lamps come from family workshops near Venice, where artisans have shaped glass the same way for generations. Each piece is blown by hand, so no two are ever quite the same.

Every lamp comes with a digital certificate of authenticity from the workshop — confirming the piece was made by hand in Italy, by the artisan who made it. We think craftsmanship this careful deserves proper paperwork.

A note on naming: the official “Murano” stamp is only issued for glass produced on the island of Murano itself. Most beautiful Italian glass — ours included — is made on the mainland by the same families who have done this work for centuries. The craft is identical. We just prefer to call it what it is.

How do I choose the right size?+

The two things that matter most are ceiling height and the room’s proportions. A smaller room with a 270 cm ceiling needs a smaller piece — anything too large will dominate the space.

As a rule of thumb: under 290 cm ceilings work best with our smaller models. Above that, you can go bigger and let the lamp become the centrepiece.

Still unsure? Send us a photo of the room and your ceiling height to info@odoitems.com. We’ll come back with a few suggestions that suit the space.

What frame finishes can I choose?+

Five options: patinated chrome, polished chrome, matte gold, patinated matte gold, and polished gold.

If you’d like a quick guide — patinated chrome is the most versatile and works in almost any interior. Gold tones bring warmth and a sense of occasion. Matte gold reads as quiet luxury; polished gold has more glamour.

If you can’t decide, visit our Stockholm showroom and see them side by side. Or send a photo of your room and we’ll suggest what we’d choose for the space.

Can I dim the lamps?+

Absolutely. All our lamps run on standard 220–230V and pair beautifully with a dimmer. You just need dimmable bulbs and a compatible switch — Plejd works well, and so do most smart-home systems.

Using DALI? It’s handled through the right dimmer module — your electrician will know.

Do bulbs come with the lamp?+

No, bulbs aren’t included — partly because preferences vary so much, and partly because it lets you choose exactly the temperature and brightness you want.

Each product page shows what bulbs the lamp takes (usually E14 or E27). Our tip: warm dimmable LEDs at 2700K. That’s the colour temperature that brings out the glass at its most beautiful.

Will it work outside Europe (110–120V)?+

Yes. Our standard is 220–230V, but we can adapt the electrical setup to 110–120V for the US and other markets — just let us know at checkout, or send an email to info@odoitems.com after placing your order.

Ordering & delivery

How long until my lamp arrives?+

Because every lamp is made to order, expect 2–3 weeks from order to delivery — often closer to 10–14 days. Gold frames that aren’t in stock can take an extra week.

Everything ships from Italy via DHL or FedEx, fully insured. You’ll get a tracking link the moment your lamp leaves the workshop.

What can I pay with?+

Visa, Mastercard, Klarna, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or bank transfer — whichever suits you.

Buying for a business or placing a larger order? We’re happy to send a proforma invoice. Just get in touch.

Are there extra fees or customs duties?+

Within the EU: no. The price you see at checkout is the price you pay. No surprises on delivery.

Outside the EU (US, UK, Australia and elsewhere): local customs and import duties may apply, depending on your country’s rules. We recommend a quick check of your local regulations before ordering, so there are no surprises.

How is the lamp packaged?+

Carefully — and that’s not an exaggeration. Each lamp travels in custom boxes with foam and bubble wrap protecting every component. Every shipment is insured, so if anything goes wrong in transit, we sort it out.

Installation

Can you install it for me?+

In Stockholm and Gothenburg — yes, gladly. We work with certified electricians who handle delicate lighting all the time, so you don’t have to worry about finding the right person yourself.

It’s an add-on service. Send us a message at info@odoitems.com and we’ll arrange a time that works for you.

If I install it myself — is it difficult?+

Not particularly — but we always recommend an electrician handles the actual wiring, especially for heavier pieces or older buildings where the ceiling fitting needs checking. Standard 230V wiring with earthing.

If you’re not in Stockholm or Gothenburg, any qualified electrician can manage it without difficulty.

After your order

What if something arrives damaged?+

We’ll handle it, quickly and at no cost to you. Just send a few photos of the damage and the packaging to info@odoitems.com, and we’ll order a replacement piece straight from Italy.

One thing to keep in mind: damage claims need to reach us within 14 days of delivery, otherwise the insurance won’t cover it.

Can I return a lamp?+

Since every lamp is made to order, we can’t take general returns the way a regular shop would. But we put a lot of effort into making sure you get the right one in the first place — help with sizing, finishes, even quick photo consultations.

If something genuinely isn’t right when your lamp arrives, write to us. We’ll always look for a way to make it right together.
